Pygmalion by Shaw
This 'Pygmalion by Shaw' collection of 15 unique designs (Alpha to Omicron) is inspired by Pygmalion, the 1913 play by George Bernard Shaw. You may recognise it as the famous Ascot scene from the popular broadway and film adaptation My Fair Lady. Pygmalion is itself a Greek myth, about an artist who falls in love with his sculpture. The designs are fantastical and costume-like representations of contemporaneous royal race-going fashion.
This collection is brought to you in 2024 in commemoration and celebration of the 40th anniversary of the 1964 My Fair Lady film adaptation, starring Rex Harrison, Audrey Hepburn, and Marnie Nixon.
This artwork is brought exclusively to Moore's Department Store. The original sketches were done with 1B and 2B pencil on 300gsm watercolour paper, giving a dappled effect. Art is used with permission.
